Love your body, love yourself ❤️ | Who Are You Calling Fat? – BBC

February 27, 2020

We are standing for self love! I, and if anyone would like to join me, will be going into a busy public area where there’s lots of foot
traffic. I’ll be taking off my clothes
down to my bikini, and… Oh, my days! I will be blindfolded
and there’ll be a sign that says, “I’m standing for all of those
who don’t love their body “like I used to. “If you think that people
should love their body, draw a heart “on my body,” and I’ll have pens
in my hands. And so the public can come and draw
a heart to say that they support
people who want to love their body. Oh, I love that! You love it? It’s amazing, yeah. Do you want to do it? Yeah. Yeah! Amazing! You all right, Babs? Babs is out. Even if you don’t want to,
you can come and watch. SHE SNIFFS Why the fuck would you do that? It’s mad. It makes me feel sick. That sort of scenario absolutely petrifies me. You guys doing it have got some
proper fortitude to do that. That takes some proper guts. I don’t know whether I’ll be getting
into the bikini myself. What’s going on in your brain
with that? It’s purely a practical thing –
because it’s quite hot weather, I’m worried about the chafage,
ladies. You all right, pal? Hello, gorgeous. You OK? Not really. What’s wrong? I just… I just feel so bad for everyone. Why? It’s like… ..why would you do that to yourself?
I was just saying the same to Sarah. It feels like throwing
a lamb in a lion’s den. I don’t know if I can do it. But you don’t have to do it.
No, no, no! But that’s the thing,
Jed, because… ..I feel like I’ve come in here
and I want to give… know, do everything,
experience everything. And I know that, if I don’t do
it, then next week, I’ll be
fucking kicking myself and saying, “Why did I not
experience that?” It’s incredible that Courtney’s
doing it, because you live in a more marginalised body
than I do. I will get less hate than you will. So, massive kudos… I’ll be very surprised
if I heard something new. I’ve heard everything they could
possibly throw at me. So, bring it on, cos I’m
not fazed by it any more. God, you’re exceptional! Remarkable. Absolutely brilliant. So, we have one more person
to hear from. What do you reckon, Babs? OK. I would like to come along… my swimming costume… ..and see how I feel
when I get there. THEY CHEER My first memories from, I think,
maybe five years old was wanting to roll my shirt up and tie it
in a little knot, cos that’s what all the girls were doing,
cos it was really hot, and I knew that, when I did that, it was really
bad, because I had a little tummy. Sun’s out, guns out! I think it’s here. Bullying in
school was horrendous. It made me not want to be
on this Earth any more. I didn’t feel good enough
to be here, cos everybody else was telling me I wasn’t. It must be amazing to be of a bigger
size and feel confident. And I didn’t even know
there was something called body positivity and body power
or whatever it is. I didn’t even know that existed
until coming in here. I just assumed everybody
was like me. I’m hoping this is not a live
bear bait about to happen, I really don’t. It’s important that they’re shocked,
because it means that what we’re going to do is
going to have an impact. You all right? Um… No, not really. But… Fuck it! I’m going to do it. Is this not for you? Nope. Yeah. Yay! We are standing for self-love. And if you agree with our message –
that you should love your body and accept who you are – then we invite you to come
and draw a heart on our body. Oh, my God.
My pens have just fallen down! The tighter, the better,
so I can’t see no-one. Hi. I love your nails. Thank you. How are you? I’m good, thank you. Well done. I think you’re doing an
amazing thing. Thank you so much. Great. I’ll take the red one. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. No problem. Thank you. Thank you. Hi. Hi, I appreciate you. Oh,
thank you. You’re my hero. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. I’m glad I’m blindfolded. I was mopping up my tears. I’ll do one. Oh, thank you – on the belly. It feels amazing. I just
want to hug everyone. Hi. Hello. You know, they’re proud of their
bodies, and they should be. Yeah, I think it’s great. Thank you so much. I think these women
are absolutely amazing. Thank you. People are being kind and nice
and they want to be part of the message as well. Thank you for drawing a heart on me. I’m over the moon. This is amazing. One of the best things
I’ve ever done. Thank you very much. You know what’s, like, the most
surprising thing of it all? How many people are walking
past and just don’t care. Yeah, no, I agree. A lot of people don’t care,
and we internalise it. Yeah. To be fair, you could be
really right there. Oh, my God! But then you’re always battling your
own demons in your head. Yeah. Like, I’m looking at them,
going, “They’re so brave.” And then there’s a bit of me, like,
“You should join them.” And I’m just
like, “I don’t think I can.”
