In this video we’re going to uncover the health
benefits of pumpkin. Hi, I’m Dr. Zyrowski from If you’re new to the channel, it’s a pleasure

your life. In this video, we’re talking about pumpkin
benefits. Many people are aware of pumpkins being a
fall favorite. People like to paint them. They like to carve them. They like to decorate their homes with them. What many people don’t know, is that pumpkins
are a highly nutritious, inexpensive, low-calorie vegetable that really can benefit your health
in a huge way. In this video, we’re going to talk about all
the different benefits it has and how pumpkins can increase your health. At the end of this video I’ll share with you
where to find my favorite pumpkin recipes. Now the first notable characteristic of pumpkin,
is that is high in antioxidants. What this is going to do, is decrease free
radicals in the body and also in turn, decrease oxidative stress. Now when we can decrease oxidative stress
in the body, what we’re going to do is decrease our chance of ever developing serious conditions
like cancer. The other thing that it’s going to do is
promote healthy aging and it’s also going to reduce oxidative stress on the DNA, which
can also prevent serious conditions in the future. Having a lot of antioxidants in our diet is
very important and pumpkin really supports that, so that’s the first great thing about
it. Second is that it supports eyesight. When we look at some of the top nutrients
that support eyesight, vitamin A lutein and zeaxanthin are right up there. They support decreasing our risk of macular
degeneration and also decreasing our risk of cataracts in the future. Pumpkin has nutrients that are very powerful
for supporting eyesight. It also is going to support weight loss. The reason that pumpkin supports weight loss
is one, it is because it’s high in fiber but also it is a very low calorie vegetable. One cup of pumpkin actually has less than
50 calories in it. The other reason that it’s great, is because
it’s a high satiety vegetable. When you eat pumpkin, it’s going to fill you
up. It’s going to have very little calories in
it and it also is going to be high in fiber, which is all really going to support that
weight loss journey that many people are on. Now the next way that pumpkin can improve
your health is by boosting your immune system. Pumpkin is rich in vitamins A, C and E and
also contains both iron and folate which have boosting properties. Now there’s not a better way to boost your
immune system than with an inexpensive vegetable going into the winter season where many people
are getting viruses, the cold and flu. I’d also recommend adding a little vitamin
D in there to boost your immune system as well. Now these same properties that boost your
immune system, the vitamin C and the vitamin A, they also really support healthy skin. If you want to support healthy skin, pumpkin’s
going to do that for you as well. Now the last thing we’re going to talk about
here is heart health. Pumpkin is rich in potassium which has been
shown to lower blood pressure also decrease your chance of having a stroke, which essentially
in all is going to decrease your risk of heart disease in the future. It’s also rich in vitamin C, which is a powerful
antioxidant, which is really great at reducing oxidative stress and also reducing the oxidation
of cholesterol on the arterial walls, which could in turn lead to a stroke one day. So when we use pumpkin for heart health, it’s
going to offer some great benefits there as well. What I wanted to do too is tell you that I
