Welcome to heath care at home A common problem is noticed now a days i.e ” Deficiency of Vitamin D” I’ve never heard in my childhood about that anybody is suffering from this deficiency. Why is it happening ? Reason is our Life Style. In now a days people get out of their home & sit in the car, sitting job in office. We get AC’s everywhere & so as our surrounded areas are completely covered. We hardly go out in sunlight. Earlier nobody had deficiency of Vitamin D, because people use to commute through bicycle . They use to work in open area like working in fields, & they never had deficiency of Vitamin D. So first of all, we should understand that what is Vitamin D. Vitamin D is a kind of steroid, which is essential for our body. In our body it is found in two groups, i.e Vitamin D2 & Vitamin D3 It gets naturally formed in body & but for that its necessary for you to expose your body to Sunlight. So the reason behind no deficiency of Vitamin D in earlier days, people use to work under sunlight. But now a days, we hardly expose our body to Sunlight. In result we have deficiency of Vitamin D Vitamin D belongs to Pro-hormone group. It absorbs the calcium from the intestine & supplies to the bones. While deficiency of Vitamin D, bones get insufficiency of Calcium. People start taking tablets of calcium. And if there is no Vitamin D, calcium doesn’t get absorbed And due to getting accumulate in our body, can create various other types of problems. How to know that you are suffering from deficiency of Vitamin D? Joint Pains, Backbone Pain, Muscle Pain could be the reason of deficiency of Vitamin D. If your immune system is getting weak & are suffering from repeated Cold & Flu that too is because of deficiency of Vitamin D if the hands & feet of small kids are getting slanting that could be because of deficiency of Vitamin D. If there is any symptom out of all these, get a simple blood test done. This way you can find out if there is deficiency of Vitamin D in your body. Now what could be the consequences of deficiency of Vitamin D? If adults are having deficiency of Vitamin D then there are higher chances of Hip Bone fracture. Unbearable pain in Back Bone, Muscles pain. In pregnant woman due deficiency of Vitamin D, they got jolt at the time of delivery. Chances are very much higher of underweight new born baby. How to get Vitamin D? A non-vegetarian can get Vitamin D very easily in Egg. Consumption of Egg gives you Vitamin D What to eat? If you’ll use any dairy product this will give you much relief in the problem of deficiency of Vitamin D. You must eat a bowl of Curd in breakfast to get Vitamin D. Must take a glass of Milk as this also gives relief in the deficiency of Vitamin D. Fatty Fish, Chicken Liver can suffice the deficiency of Vitamin D. Being a non-vegetarian, consuming all of these prescribed food items will suffice the deficiency of Vitamin D. Let’s talk about Vegetarians. Its often says that its very difficult to suffice the deficiency of Vitamin D in vegetarians. Because, as such there is no much quantity of Vitamin D in the food we eat.
